To get to Woodstock and Quechee you must go through Bridgewater.
Take Route 4 East. Just before the junction of Route 4 East and Route 100 A is the Long Trail Brewery. This is a great place to stop in, have a tour, and lunch. At the junction is the Bridgewater Junction Store-a real country store with a great deli and good coffee. Across from the store is White Raven, a craft shop with handmade drums, lutes, ceramic tiles and blown glass.
In the town of Bridgewater you
will find The Red Horse Antique store and
Jacaranda Antiques. Just before the Bridgewater Mill Mall you will come to Mirada Thomas Pottery Studio. In the Mall complex, there is a bookstore, antiques and craft center,
F.H.Gillingham
& Sons and
Shackleton a handcrafted wood furniture shop.
There is also Northern Ski shop.
Head on towards Woodstock and you will run into several antique shops,
and a small Vermont product store with lamas outside.
Just before you head into the town of Woodstock there is the Woodstock Farmers Market. A must stop even if it is only for their coffee or a scone. They have a great deli and carry fresh produce, specialty products, and plants. There is also the White Cottage Snack Bar, if it is the warmer months with picnic tables by the river, plenty of room to let the kids run under a supervised eye.
In Woodstock there is the Billings Farm and Museum,
and the Rockefeller Estate. There is great shopping, lots of galleries and antique stores. Again, there is lots of great food also. Mountain Creamery and Bentley's are among a few. F.H.Gillingham & Sons is a must see. This Country store has been here through the times. It has everything, gardening supplies, wine, specialty products, organic produce, and gifts. Next door is the Clover Gift Shop full of wonderful gifts for everyone in your family.
There is a golf course for summer fun or you can cross county ski in the winter months.
Continue through Woodstock on Route 4 to Quechee. At Quechee there is the
Vermont Institute of Natural Science, Quechee Gorge, great shops like Mesa, the Christmas Store, and
an Antique Mall. There is a mini train for the kids, and Mini Golf. In the town of Quechee itself is Simon Pierce Glass and Pottery. In this area
there is also a Folk Art Gallery along Route 4 on your right coming back from the town of Quechee
This has been a full day. You can head home now and eat at one of the places you missed on the way.
